The Palestinian terror organization Hamas confirmed the death of its leader Yayha Sinwar on Friday. Israeli soldiers on Wednesday killed the strategist of the October 7, 2023 massacre in Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
Sinwar, 61, was Israel’s most wanted terrorist. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the killing of the terrorist godfather on Thursday as a “milestone”.
“This is the beginning of the day after Hamas,” he said in a video message addressed to the people of the Gaza Strip. They must now free themselves from the “oppressive rule” of Hamas. He assured that the extremists would never rule the Gaza Strip again in the future.
Identified by tooth and fingerprints
According to media reports, forensic experts from the Israel Police determined Sinwar’s identity using teeth and fingerprints. A DNA test was also carried out. Israel had the Hamas leader’s biometric data because he spent more than 20 years in Israeli custody.
