Only released in June – deportation ban: criminal (29) stabbed again

Date:

An intensive care offender known to police in Germany seriously injured another person with a knife just four months after his release from prison. The man from Eritrea is considered ‘tolerated’ until the final verdict and cannot be deported.

A 29-year-old Eritrean seriously injured a 33-year-old Libyan with a knife in an apartment in Dresden last Thursday. Police suspect the argument was over drugs.

Arrest warrant for 29-year-old
The victim suffered serious back injuries and had to be taken to hospital immediately, ‘Bild’ reports. The Public Prosecution Service confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued for the 29-year-old for attempted manslaughter causing serious bodily harm. He is currently in custody.

Aggressive behavior, attempts to escape
The attacker was only released on June 11 after serving a four-year prison sentence for grievous bodily harm. During his previous crimes in Dresden, he had brutally attacked three other refugees. On the day of his arrest, three knives were found in his pocket. He is also said to have attracted attention in prison because of his extremely aggressive behavior and escape attempts.

Just six days after his release, the man rioted at a police station and later attacked a railway official who caught him evading fares. During this arrest, the police again found a kitchen knife on him.

Deportation ban imposed
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) has revoked the “protected status as an asylum seeker”, but at the same time imposed a ban on deportations. The 29-year-old immediately filed a complaint against the Bamf’s decision. Therefore, he is considered “tolerated” until the final judgment and cannot be deported.

The spokeswoman for the Saxony State Directorate confirmed to the newspaper ‘Bild’ that the suspect does not have the necessary travel documents – another obstacle to the man’s deportation.
