The distribution of the contributions of each autonomous community to the total economy of the Spanish state confirms that both the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarre industrially specialized. That is, both communities contribute more to the wealth generated by the industry than to total economic activities.

Hego Euskal Herria more than contributes 7% of the state’s gross domestic product (GDP).but they almost represent the 12% of industrial wealth. That is to say, the Basque industry has a greater weight in the Spanish industrial GDP than the Basque economy in general in the total GDP of the state.

If we look at the “pie” of the Spanish economy, the contribution of the CAV is 5.9%, and that of Navarra 1.7%.

However, if we only look at the Industrial GDPwith the exception of the rest of the sectors, the manufacturing industry CAV has a weight of 8.6%and that of Navarreof the 3%.

This implies relative industrial specialization higher salaries than in the rest of the state (and higher pensions in the long run), a greater international presence in exports and greater spending on research and development.
