What a mess! In the center of the Tamsweg in Salzburg, a truck lost more than 100 liters of hydraulic oil on Tuesday morning. The fire brigade’s clean-up work took several hours.
Tuesday started with a nasty surprise for the Floriani on Tamsweg: they were warned to clean up an oil leak in the city center after a truck lost more than 100 liters of hydraulic oil.
The pollution extended over 800 meters. A roadblock was set up and oil binder applied.
Oil also entered the surface channel
Disaster officer Christoph Wiedl was also called in, as well as special vehicles, because a small amount of contaminated material was found in the surface channel. For this reason, the hazardous substances vehicle (GFS) was alerted again.
As a precaution, the sewer pipe was closed with a sealing pad. A specialist company was called in to pump the contaminated material out of the canal and use sweepers to thoroughly clean the road.
The fire brigade ended the action at 3.30 pm with the support of twenty emergency services, the police, two sweepers and a sewer cleaning truck.
Due to the work, there were restrictions on road traffic. There was no danger to the environment.
