Readers’ debate – Parents or teachers: who is responsible for raising children?

Date:

There is a lot of discussion and debate going on every day on the krone.at forum. In our ‘Reader Debate’ section we would like to highlight special comments and ask the community for their opinion on an exciting aspect. Today is about tensions between parents and teachers. How do you see the division of roles between these two groups?

At our schools there are always differences between parents, teachers and students. Recently, a six-year-old primary school child even made headlines for beating up his teacher and a classmate. The principal of a secondary school demands that parents take more responsibility for their children’s education. According to her, many parents place too much of this responsibility on the school.

“Krone” reader to have believes that teachers should transfer knowledge, while parents are responsible for education. If parents are disinterested, teachers will have difficulty teaching all students.

How do you see the division of roles between educators and parents? How can schools and parents work together better to support each other in their tasks? We look forward to your comments!
