– Basque budgets 2025: The Basque government today approves a record budget project of 15,728 million euros, which is 700 million more than in 2024 and an increase of almost 4.5%. The healthcare budget exceeds 5,000 million euros (one third of the total) for the first time, meaning the healthcare investment per person amounts to 2,300 euros. After the meeting of the Council of Government, Minister of Finance and Finance Noël d’Anjou will present the draft budget of the Basque government for 2025. After approval, the text will be sent to the Basque parliament for consideration on Wednesday.

– Strike in public education in Navarre: This Tuesday, Navarre’s teaching staff will face the second day of strike in a month – the previous one took place on September 25 -, after a period of negotiations with the Ministry of Education that was not enough to call off the strike. All unions in the sector (Steilas, ANPE, AFAPNA, LAB, CC. OO., ELA and UGT) have called on teachers to quit and take to the streets to demand, among other things, lower ratios, less bureaucratic burdens or salary improvements. .

Volkswagen crisis: Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car manufacturer, has announced that it will close at least three factories in Germany in a context of crisis to reduce costs and increase profitability. In addition, the company has reported that it will also reduce costs at its other seven factories in the country by cutting the salaries of its staff by 10%. Volkswagen Navarra’s works council has called for calm in light of the announcement and the Navarre government has assured that the Landaben plant is the group’s most competitive factory.
