New Hezbollah chief Naim Kassim says he is ready for a ceasefire with Israel – under certain “conditions”. But according to him, there is currently no suitable plan on the table.
“If the Israelis decide they want to stop the aggression, we say we agree, but on our terms,” Kassim said Wednesday in his first speech as the new head of Hezbollah.
According to Israeli media, US Middle East envoy Brett McGurk and US Special Envoy to Lebanon Amos Hochstein will travel to the region on Wednesday to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli government officials to discuss possible terms for a ceasefire with Hezbollah.
Their aim is therefore to implement an agreement drawn up by Hochstein, which is based on UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
