The bloody frenzy in the Mühlviertel continues to draw people across the country and keep the police on their toes. The search for the urgent suspect Roland Drexler (56) is intensively underway. And one thing is already clear: the search continues until he is found.
250 police officers are still on the road in the Altenfelden and Arnreit region. The mayor of Kirchberg ob der Donau, Franz Hofer (64), and retired police officer Josef Hartl (64) were killed there on Monday by shots from a rifle and a pistol.
The suspected perpetrator is 56-year-old Roland Drexler from Altenfelden. He is said to have shot the two victims over an argument about hunting, but has been on the run since Monday and cannot be found.
Still a lot of police
Currently, around 250 security forces are still intensively searching, even though the dense fog and geographical conditions (many forests) do not make this easy. Nothing changes during the holidays. Unless of course there is a current development. “The situation is still being reassessed every hour,” said police spokesman Michael Babl.
“Seek until he is found”
And one thing is already clear: “We will search until the man is found,” says Babl. Because: Murder does not expire.
It is very likely that Roland Drexler will soon be placed on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s most wanted list. For tactical reasons, the executive branch currently does not want to reveal whether the wanted person has a passport.
Identification possible
DNA and fingerprints were taken from the man’s three homes, so identification is possible at any time if Roland Drexler’s body is found.
100 tips from the population
The public’s support remains great. More than 100 tips have already been received, including from other states. However, none of them were effective.
