New findings in the search for Roland Drexler: His getaway car, which was found Friday morning, was probably parked there only the evening before. Police also found a long firearm in the car. This means that the suspected double murderer probably still has two of his original three weapons with him.
The police received an emergency call on Friday morning: a witness reported that he had found Roland Drexler’s Caddy in a forest between Altenfelden and Arnreit in the Mühlviertel. The results of the study were made public on Saturday morning.
The car was probably parked at the spot as recently as Friday evening. This was evident from further witness statements, which were combined by the police. However, it is not yet clear exactly when the Caddy was last put into use.
Police also found a long gun in the parked vehicle – it was not camouflaged or hidden under leaves. Roland Drexler, who allegedly shot two people on Monday, originally fled with two long guns and a pistol. It can therefore be assumed that the wanted suspected double murderer is still in possession of a rifle and a pistol.
Car wanted
On Saturday morning, police conducted a thorough search of Drexler’s car, which remains where he was found, but had to exercise extreme caution as there was still a risk the fugitive was in the area.
The forest area near the site is still surrounded by emergency services and the search is in full swing. About 250 emergency services and numerous technical aids are involved.
On Saturday night, the police and 250 emergency services searched the area where the getaway car was found, near the crime scene of the first murder in Fraunschlag (municipality of Altenfelden). There is still no trace of Drexler and drones and thermal imaging cameras were unable to track down the suspected perpetrator that night.
