Next Monday, the autopsy of amok hunter Roland Drexler will provide information about how long the 56-year-old had lain dead in the woods. Since Drexler was found, police have begun a “new phase of the investigation.” Many questions remain unanswered – the results of the autopsy are eagerly awaited…
Normality is slowly returning to the Rohrbach district after exactly a week ago 56-year-old Roland Drexler shot the mayor of Kirchberg ob der Donau, Franz Hofer, and police officer Josef Hartl with several shots.
After the amok hunter went into hiding without a trace after the brutal murders, Drexler’s white VW Caddy and his body were found on Saturday in the much-wanted forest area between Arnreit and Altenfelden in the Rohrbach district.
Autopsy results not until Monday evening
Next Monday, Drexler’s autopsy will determine how long the 56-year-old lay dead in the woods. But locals do not want to completely rule out the possibility that the hunter had help. The police do not yet have any new leads for this.
The spokeswoman for the Linz Public Prosecutor’s Office, Ulrike Breiteneder, confirmed in response to a request from ‘Krone’ that the autopsy should be carried out by the department of forensic medicine in Salzburg. She doesn’t know the exact time; the results are expected on Monday evening. “We hope that the time of death can be determined. “But we are not sure whether that is still possible,” says Breiteneder.
An autopsy result for the two murder victims, Hofer and Hartl, was not announced until after 6 p.m. For this reason, Drexler does not assume that an earlier result will be available.
Many open questions
It is hoped that the autopsy will provide a more accurate reconstruction of the crime and Drexler’s escape. Authorities are also scrutinizing the days before the crime. It is still unclear where Drexler was after the two fatal shots and how he managed to steer his VW Caddy into the woods.
The fact that Drexler’s body and his cursed car were found right between the two crime scenes in the vast forest area despite the heavy police presence represents a mystery that has not yet been solved for the authorities.
