Online fraud – a so-called ‘job’ cost the Tyroleans hundreds of euros

Date:

A 45-year-old from Innsbruck fell victim to an insidious form of online fraud. The local population was offered a ‘commission’ for testing products. But things turned out differently than expected…

According to police, the 45-year-old Austrian was contacted on All Saints’ Day via a courier service by an unknown person who made him a “job offer”: he would have to do product testing for the website of a well-known online mail order company and receive a commission for this. When the Innsbruck resident agreed, he received a link to the supposedly official website of the online shop and registered there.

At first “committees” arrived.
As a result, locals bought various products, rated them and also made various payments. He also received his promised “commission” for two “orders”, but then came the nasty surprise: he was told that the “dealer account” had been frozen due to an error and that he now had to make further payments.

The man then became suspicious and stopped transferring money, but reported the matter to the police on Wednesday. The damage he has suffered as a result of the alleged fraud is in the four-digit eurozone.
