Including AfD politicians – the FBI came across ‘Saxon separatists’ in the chat

As reported, the German Federal Prosecutor General arrested eight suspected members of the militant group on Tuesday. Six of the suspects were taken into custody on the day of their arrest. It is unclear when the alleged ringleader Jörg S. will appear before the investigating judge. He was arrested in Poland and remains there awaiting extradition.

Jörg S. and his brother Jörn S., who was also arrested, are relatives of a former FPÖ politician and a well-known Austrian right-wing extremist. The father was convicted of reactivating the Nazis in the 1990s, imprisoned and then emigrated to Germany.

Evidence found in Vienna
Among those arrested is a local AfD politician from Saxony, who suffered a broken jaw when police attacked him. He had a long gun in his hand, so police fired two warning shots, it was said. The politician, who is a hunter and legally owns the gun, had to undergo surgery.

Searches took place not only in Germany (see video above), but also in Vienna and the Krems-Land district. Numerous pieces of evidence have been seized. The first reference to the group came from the US. The FBI has more ability to solve cases on the Internet than the German security authorities.

The ‘Saxon Separatists’ group was founded by November 2020 at the latest. “This is a militant group consisting of fifteen to twenty people whose ideology is characterized by racist, anti-Semitic and partly apocalyptic ideas,” the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office said. The AfD has now announced that it will expel its politician and two other party members, who are said to belong to the terrorist group.
