For an unknown reason, a vehicle caught fire under the highway bridge. The first emergency calls were received by the fire brigade around 11 p.m.
The comrades of the city fire brigade ran along Federal Highway 19 to the scene: there they found a small inferno. “The flames were already shooting meters high from the wreckage,” it is said. Why the car started burning is still under investigation.
Even more vehicles rescued
Volunteers immediately responded with firefighting foam to prevent the fire from spreading to cars parked nearby. Fortunately, this worked, even though the stricken vehicle burned down to its chassis. The alerted emergency services of the fire brigade of the cadastral municipality of Neuaigen ensured the removal of the foam after the “fire had gone out”.
