Dangerous use – Wildon fire: owner attacked fire brigade

Date:

The fire brigade was called on Thursday evening due to heavy smoke development at a building in Wildon (Styria). However, when she arrived on the scene, the owner of the property attacked and insulted the emergency services.

Gratitude for their commitment and willingness to help – this is usually what the reaction looks like when the fire service has to leave. On Thursday evening, however, Wildon Fire Brigade experienced exactly the opposite. The emergency services were called because there was heavy smoke on a site in the village. They could see the dark plume of smoke from afar.

Offended and Threatened
“We were immediately insulted and threatened by the owner of the property. He refused entry to the Wildon Fire Department and threatened to take the dogs,” fire chief Marcel Keutz reported. “To block access with an emergency vehicle, the owner drove his car extremely aggressively toward emergency services and only braked two meters from completely beforehand. Comrades had to jump aside,” he continues.

police was called
Only after the police arrived could the owner be brought to his senses. Then they went to see if another assignment was needed. By this time, the farm owner had extinguished the illegally lit fire that generated the smoke. “This was the first operation for the Wildon Fire Department where volunteers were treated so aggressively,” Keutz summed up.
