After a 24-year-old man from St. Salvator (Carinthia) visited the Krampus parade in Treibach with his friends, he allegedly went to sleep in his car. He probably left the heater on and suffocated in the car.
A tragic incident occurred in Treibach/Altofen on the night from Saturday to Sunday. As the “Krone” learned, a young man (24) attended the Krampus Run. He was taken to the event in Treibach because his car was there. The young man was reportedly out with friends and may have consumed alcohol.
Young man left the heater on
Because he could no longer drive after the move, he probably slept in his car and spent the night there. The car was in a public parking lot. The 24-year-old left the later installed parking heater running, probably because of the cold. He had reclined the back of the driver’s seat and also had a blanket with him.
Presumably died of carbon monoxide poisoning
He probably died of carbon monoxide poisoning from the exhaust fumes. On Sunday, his sister went looking for him and found his car in the parking lot. The man did not respond and the nurse immediately started the rescue chain. Unfortunately, only his death could be confirmed.
A crisis intervention team was appointed for the family. An autopsy was ordered.
