Mercedes Benz de Vitoria will shorten the working day from three shifts to two of nine hours each from March 3

Date:

The plan was approved on Monday, with the support of several unions. The main purpose of this decision, they say, is to preserve jobs.

The automotive sector is not having its best moment and the Mercedes Benz plant in Vitoria-Gasteiz is a clear reflection of this. This Monday, the new work program for 2025 was approved, and everything indicates that several cuts will take place.

At the suggestion of management, work began some time ago to draw up the 2025 calendar, taking into account budget cuts, and today the plan was approved with the support of several trade unions. The main purpose of this decision, they say, is to preserve jobs. However, the changes will be striking: until now there were three shifts per day, next year this will be reduced to two nine-hour shifts.

Employees will start work on January 13 and the new calendar will apply on March 3.
