A Palestinian youth was shot by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank and died a few hours later. The 16-year-old was shot and killed near the village of Silwad near Ramallah Friday night, an official from Silwad and Palestinian security circles said Saturday.
According to the official, the boy was on his way to the neighboring settlement of Ofra when he was injured by Israeli soldiers.
A group of young people threw rocks at Israeli cars
According to the Israeli army, the 16-year-old was part of a group of Palestinians who threw stones at passing cars and refused to stop. The soldiers tried to stop the stone-throwing using standard procedures, including the use of live ammunition as a last resort.

Following a series of deadly attacks in Israel, Israeli forces have stepped up operations in the West Bank in recent months. Since March, attacks by Palestinians and Arab Israelis have killed 19 people, most of them Israeli civilians. Since then, three Arab Israelis and 46 Palestinians, including militant fighters as well as civilians, have been killed in the West Bank.
