Also in Vienna there is a fuss about a fake video call! According to this, the mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) – like two of his colleagues in Madrid and Berlin earlier – was arrested by a fake Vitali Klitschko. Moments later, the real head of Kiev confirmed this via Twitter.
The conversation with Mayor Ludwig took place on Wednesday. In a tweet, the mayor announced that he has discussed the current situation in Ukraine with Klitschko. The alleged mayor of Kiev had also inquired about the refugees in Austria.
But on Saturday, Paul Ronzheimer, deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper BILD, reported via the short message service Twitter that Viennese mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) had also called the wrong Vitali Klitschko on Wednesday. Mayor Ludwig’s office was initially unavailable to the “Krone” on Saturday.
Video message from real Klitschko
Shortly afterwards, however, the real Vitali Klitschko came forward via Twitter. A fake Klitschko reported in Europe saying “absurd things”. It needs to be fixed urgently. “Please be careful in the future,” Klitschko warned. And added that official talks can only take place through official channels. In addition, he “never needs a translator,” the mayor of Kiev clarified in the video message in German.
Berlin’s ruling mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) also expressed doubts during a video conference on Friday about whether she was indeed having ties with Kiev mayor Vitali Klitschko as planned. The conversation then ended prematurely.
