This Friday ends the deadline given by Councilor Noël d’Anjou to respond to the budget proposals he made to each of them during the second meeting last Wednesday.
The only parliamentarian from Add In the Basque Parliament, Jon Hernández has announced that the coalition will withdraw from the negotiations on the Basque government’s 2025 budgets and that he will table an amendment to the entire budget.
This Friday ended the deadline given by the Basque Minister of Finance and Finance, Noël d’Anjou, to the three opposition parties –EH Bildu, PP and Sumar– to respond to the budget proposals made to each of them during the second meeting last Wednesday.
Hernández announced at the time that he saw “very little possibility” that his party would support the budgets.
The Sumar parliamentarian confirmed on Friday that he will not support them because the Basque government “has not presented no concrete alternative or has shown willingness to negotiate “substantial changes” in the accounts.
“In our opinion, the executive’s proposal is limited to asking for our support,” without addressing the proposals intended to give the budgets “a more social, green and fair orientation.”
Housing initiatives included expanding the public rental stock, preventing evictions and creating 2,000 social housing units. In the field of healthcare, he asked for 250 million euros to be invested to strengthen primary care, reduce waiting lists and improve infrastructure. Another measure proposed by Sumar was the implementation of a pilot plan for a universal basic income.
If EH Bildu or the PP express their desire to continue negotiations today after this refusal, the meetings will continue next week, before the deadline for submitting amendments expires on Thursday the 28th.
However, the Basque government has emphasized its desire to reach an agreement with the opposition The PNV and the PSE-EE have a sufficient majority in the Basque parliament to approve the budget project alone.
