Due to problems with overhead lines and switches, a number of trains in Vorarlberg came to a standstill on Friday. Many train passengers arrived at work late in the morning.
The reason was the onset of winter, which the railway infrastructure was not fully prepared for. So nothing worked between Lochau and Lauterach around 8 a.m. due to damage to the overhead lines. While long-distance traffic waited for the closure of the route, the ÖBB set up a rail replacement in the form of buses for regional trains.
But there were also problems elsewhere, for example on the route between Altach and Hohenems. There the journey continued only in buses. Passengers between Feldkirch and Buchs in Switzerland also had to deal with delays and waiting times.
As the day progressed the situation calmed down, but here and there you still had to expect a few extra minutes of waiting.
