Two seriously injured – head-on collision: “The accident scene looked like a battlefield”

Date:

A serious traffic accident occurred on Seebergstrasse in St. Veit (Carinthia) on Friday afternoon. For unknown reasons, two cars collided head-on. One person was thrown onto the street, another was trapped in the wreckage.

“The accident scene looked like a battlefield. We helped where we could,” says a first aid worker from “Krone”, who happened to pass the accident site between the towns of Reipersdorf and Goggerwenig and provided first aid with several people until the emergency services arrived.

Thrown from vehicle during accident
“There two vehicles collided head-on. When they arrived at the scene of the accident, there was a person lying on the road. It was apparently thrown from the vehicle during the accident before it fell ten meters deep into the ditch,” said the St. Veit fire brigade, which was on duty together with the FF Thalsdorf, FF Launsdorf and FF St. Donat.

Both drivers did not respond
The second vehicle was about 50 meters away, in which the driver was still trapped. Both people also did not respond. “After consultation with the emergency doctor, the roof was removed to make the rescue as gentle as possible. Both accident victims received emergency medical care at the scene and were then taken to the Klagenfurt clinic by the Red Cross and the Christophorus 11 emergency medical helicopter.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Both people suffered life-threatening injuries.
