Vandals sawed down a flagpole in front of the SPÖ headquarters in Maxglan (Salzburg) on Saturday evening and stole a rainbow flag. It was the second incident in 24 hours.
The rainbow flag is the flag of the LGBTQI* community, a symbol of diversity, pride and empowerment. On the occasion of Pride Month, a copy was hung in front of the SPÖ headquarters in Maxglan. During the night of Saturday, vandals not only sawed through the mast, but also stole the flag.
It was the second such incident in 24 hours. In Liefering, two rainbow zebra crossings were daubed with black paint during the night from Thursday to Friday.
The SPÖ is combative: “For every rainbow flag they destroy us, we raise another rainbow flag as SPÖ,” said SPÖ state manager Gerald Forcher.
