Since 2020, total current expenditure has grown in absolute value at an average annual cumulative rate of 5%, and by 6% over the past year, going from 8,068 million in 2022 to 8,554 million in 2023.
Current healthcare spending as a percentage of GDP has fallen by 0.1 percentage points over the past year.
Of the 8,554 million euros in expenditure in 2023, 5,944 million corresponds to all government services and mandatory payment insurance, which is 5.5% more than in 2022.
The remaining 2,610 million euros corresponds to the set of voluntary payment of health insurance and direct payment by households, which grew by 7.1% compared to 2022.
