Austrian tobacco market leader Philip Morris is currently struggling with supply problems. “There have been isolated problems for almost two weeks,” confirms spokesman Florian Gross. The popular red Marlboros in packs of 20 have been hit and L&M and Chesterfield cigarettes are always in short supply.
In a letter to the tobacconist, which is available to the “Krone”, Philip Morris states that the cigarettes cannot be delivered for at least two weeks. Smokers would soon notice this in tobacconists.
For them, the group refers to other brands in the Marlboro family. The situation is exacerbated by material bottlenecks and stagnant supply chains. The second largest domestic manufacturer JTI (Austria Tobacco) says there are currently no problems with availability.
