Visiting minister – Shoigu visited Russian troops in Ukraine

Date:

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has visited Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine. The Defense Ministry in Moscow released a video on Sunday in which Shoigu in dark green military clothing steps out of a plane and then consults with military officials.

The minister inspected the situation and “listened to the commanders’ reports on the current situation and actions of the Russian armed forces in the main areas of operation,” the attached statement said. He also awarded medals to individual soldiers for their efforts in the “special military operation”, as the war against Ukraine is officially called in Russia. The exact location of Shoigu in Ukraine has not been disclosed.

Russia, which invaded the neighboring country more than four months ago, is currently targeting the eastern regions of Luhansk and Donetsk. Following the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from the Luhansk town of Sievjerodonetsk, the area is now almost completely under Russian control.
