One person on board – small plane crashed – searches for the accident site

Date:

A small plane crashed in the Waldviertel (Lower Austria) on Sunday afternoon. There was reportedly one person on board. However, the location of the accident has not yet been found. The search is in full swing.

According to the fire brigade, a plane crash took place on Sunday afternoon around 3:30 pm on the Pfarrstuhl near Groß-Siegharts in the Waidhofen an der Thaya district in the Waldviertel. This was also confirmed by Austro Control and the airport.

Only the pilot was said to have been on board the small plane. The plane was en route from Krems to Dobersberg. “I noticed the plane while walking the dog, it was terribly loud and I said to myself, ‘Well, hopefully it doesn’t crash,’” says an earwitness.

A large-scale search for the wreck is currently underway. In addition to fog and darkness, the size and impenetrability of the possible crash area also complicates the work of the emergency services, of which 100 are currently on site. Another 150 have already been warned. Search dogs are also involved.
