Tragedy in Tyrol – fall in closed ski area: tourer dead

Last Saturday, a 66-year-old ski tourer was seriously injured in a fall in Seefeld in Tyrol: the German rolled over several times while descending in a ski area that is currently closed. In the clinic he lost his battle against death.

The terrible alpine accident took place late Saturday morning at the Rosshütte ski area in Seefeld, which is currently closed. “According to witness statements, the touring car may have missed an artificial snow hill during the descent,” police reported at the time.

Roll over several times
The 66-year-old then probably fell and fell several times. “Two tourers who followed immediately initiated the rescue chain and provided first aid until the emergency helicopter crew arrived,” the report said.

Seriously injured in hospital
An Alpine police officer and two members of the Seefeld/Reith mountain rescue service, who happened to pass the accident site, also supported the first responders with the resuscitation measures. Ultimately, the seriously injured man was flown by helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck.

Doctors could no longer help him
That’s where the sad news came from: the 66-year-old died on Monday from his serious injuries, the police reported.
