Since Saturday, GAK defender Michael Lang’s strange own goal has dominated the headlines. It was also the dominant topic on the Internet. The 26-year-old spoke to the ‘Krone’ about his goal, the time afterwards, negative sides of social networks and how he dealt with the situation.
“Kron”: Michael, your season so far has been a rollercoaster ride. Do you also see it that way?
Michael Long: For me it is the first season in the Bundesliga. And it really is a rollercoaster ride. Personally, I didn’t start that badly, with that dream goal against Salzburg. Still, it wasn’t fun because we couldn’t win the first twelve games. Then there was my suspension, which held me back a bit and also made me think. The change of coach gave me a new opportunity and I made good use of it. My last performances were pretty good too. And now this own goal, that was very strange. That was just a blackout.
