Large-scale operation by rescue workers in the Leibnitz district: According to an initial report from the Red Cross, a traffic accident involving two vehicles took place around noon today in St. Johann im Saggautal. Seven people, including four children, were injured.
The injured received initial care from the Styrian Red Cross and were then transported to hospitals. A child and an adult were seriously injured in the accident. The seriously injured child was transported by rescue helicopter to the pediatric surgery department of LKH Graz and the adult was also flown to Graz.
Three other children suffered minor to moderate injuries in the accident. Two of the children were transported by the Red Cross to the pediatric surgery department of LKH Graz, and one child to LKH Wagna. The two slightly injured adults were also taken to the LKH Wagna by the Red Cross.
Two rescue helicopters and two emergency doctors in action
A total of two rescue helicopters, two emergency medical vehicles, a command vehicle and six Red Cross ambulances were deployed. Five emergency services were also deployed at the scene of the accident. In addition, the Red Cross crisis intervention team was also alerted.
