A couple in Spain allegedly sold their 14-year-old daughter to an adult man as his wife for 5,000 euros. Those arrested now risk prison sentences of several years.
About three years after the forced marriage, the victim’s parents and husband were arrested in Cádiz in the southwestern part of the country, ‘La Vanguardia’ newspaper and other media reported, citing national police.
The detainees are accused of human trafficking, sexual violence and child abuse, among other things.

The father was ordered into custody, while the victim’s mother and husband were released on conditions. They all risk prison sentences of several years.
Daughter lived in van with husband
The young woman in question, a Spanish-born Romanian, filed a complaint against the three at a police station in Cádiz. She stated that she had suffered psychological, physical and sexual abuse since her marriage in October 2021. She lived with the man in a van and was forced by him to collect scrap metal to earn money.
