Thousands of people took to the streets this Saturday to demand Bilbaosometimes in the rain, that the right to housing and put an end to the ‘business’ surrounding it.
Called by the Euskal Herria Housing Movement, the demonstration, which received the support of more than two hundred groups and organizations, left the central Plaza Moyúa around 1 p.m. After returning to the square, the march continued along the city’s Gran Vía towards Arriaga.
People of all ages participated in the mobilization, but most importantly young peopleSome carried protest banners and posters, as well as Palestinian flags.
‘There is no right not to have a roof’ And “housing for everyone” These are some of the slogans the protesters shouted during the tour.
The representative of one of the organizations promoting the mobilization, Karla Pisano, from the so-called Socialist Housing Association, has denounced that the housing problem “the things” that have been done with her.
In statements to the media, the spokesperson criticized political parties, opining that “when they hold a management position” they take measures aimed at “expanding the housing sector”.
According to him, these types of measures do not solve the problem. His solution, as he has defended, requires “emergency measures”which “must be taken by expropriating the profits of the company causing the problem.”
