Underground tunnels – The Israeli Air Force again attacked targets in Syria

Date:

The Israeli Air Force has stepped up its attacks on targets in Syria. Up to 40 attacks were counted on Saturday evening alone. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said an arms depot, a military airport and underground tunnels were shelled.

Much of it was shot in the area around Qalamun, about 90 kilometers north of the Syrian capital Damascus. Since the overthrow of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, the Israeli air force has repeatedly attacked military facilities in the country. However, recently a scientific institute was destroyed.

The Israeli military declined to comment on the latest reports, but said it wanted to ensure that the Syrian army’s abandoned military equipment did not fall into the hands of extremists (see video above). The forces have also occupied the buffer zone between Israel and Syria on the Golan Heights.

Thousands celebrated Friday prayers
The military locations attacked are mainly in and around Damascus.

As reported, the decades-long violent rule of the Assad family came to an end about a week ago. The dictator fled the country. The new rulers established a transitional government that promised to protect the rights of all Syrians.

For the first Friday prayers since the fall, thousands of people gathered in several Syrian cities to celebrate in the streets. In Damascus, the crowd met at the famous Umayyad Mosque. Many waved the flag of the 2011 Syrian democracy movement, which has now been taken over by the interim government.
