Animal use – Kangaroo “Mirko” exploring in Carinthia

Date:

Kangaroo “Mirko” wanted to explore the beautiful Carinthian region and quickly escaped. Police, firefighters and volunteers found the active funnel near a stream bed and were eventually able to bring it home safely.

It’s not every day that you see a kangaroo, at least not in the Völkermarkt district. While on patrol, police officers heard a report on the radio that a kangaroo had been spotted in the Edling Reservoir area. The search began immediately. A witness showed officers a photo of the animal she had recently shot.

Using a mugshot to search for “Mirko”.
The fur nose, which had meanwhile jumped away, was now on the run. Countless helpers went looking for the original Australian resident. A search was immediately started: the St. Peter am Wallersberg fire brigade, other volunteers and the now identified owner intensively searched for the runaway.

Jump and skip – the successful evasion maneuvers of ‘Mirko’
“Mirko” was refreshing himself in a stream bed when searchers found him. The helpers tried to catch “Mirko”, but they failed. A jump and a hop – the cheerful kangaroo was able to cleverly use his evasive maneuver, much to the annoyance of his bipedal friends.

“Only by skillfully surrounding the kangaroo did he probably realize that it was hopeless to try to escape again and allowed himself to be arrested by the owner using a net with almost no resistance,” say the officers, who were now able to complete a successful manhunt.

Safe and sound, after an eventful day, “Mirko” is now enjoying a wonderful evening with his family in Dullach.
