Gruesome discovery in Georgia: Twelve dead restaurant workers were discovered at a popular winter sports resort in the country. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the South Caucasus assumes it was an accident. The police are investigating.
Eleven of the dead are from India, one is Georgian. They were all said to have worked in a restaurant in the city of Gudauri.
Gudauri is located in northern Georgia, about 120 kilometers from Tbilisi. The area high in the Caucasus is popular for winter sports.
Investigators said no injuries or signs of violence were found among the dead.
Generator as trigger?
However, a generator was operating near the bedrooms in the staff areas – probably after the power supply was interrupted. Carbon monoxide poisoning is common when generators are used indoors.
