When an accident occurred on Tuesday evening at an intersection near the Villach-Faaker See motorway exit, initially there was talk of a person being trapped. But the fire brigade also had to save a furry friend…
At the intersection of Faakerseestrasse B84 and the motorway exit, two cars collided for reasons that are still unclear. Initially it was suspected that a person was trapped. “When our technical train arrived on site, it was determined after the initial investigation that there were still three people in the vehicles,” explains OBM Alexander Scharf, Villach Fire Station Chief. “Fortunately, none of the occupants were trapped.”
While the people were being cared for by the rescue team, one of them asked the fire brigade to look for ‘Luna’. The dog was also one of the prisoners. „There was a small dog in one of the vehicles, hiding under the front seat,” Scharf continued. “A police officer and a firefighter were able to work together to free the animal from its situation without being injured.”
Because her owners were in the hospital, the little Maltese dog “Luna” needed shelter. “Daniel Struckl, a firefighter from the Villach main fire station, agreed to record ‘Luna’ with him and his partner for a night,” Scharf said. The HFW Villach volunteer fire brigade and the Perau and Maria Gail volunteer fire brigades carried out the clean-up work and secured the accident scene.
