Elon Musk has pledged his support to the right-wing populist British party Reform UK and is in discussions with Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage about a donation.
“He is convinced that the motherland of the English-speaking world is in deep trouble,” wrote reform party leader Farage about a meeting with Musk in Florida in the British newspaper ‘Telegraph’.
Musk described the ruling Labor Party and the Conservatives, the strongest opposition force, as a united party and “left no doubt that he has our backs,” Farage stressed. He confirmed that “inevitably the issue of money also came up.” “Further negotiations will take place on this.”
It was the first time Farage had even remotely confirmed rumors of a possible major donation from Musk. There has been speculation in the British media for weeks that the X owner could support the Farage party with up to 100 million dollars (95.27 million euros). He financed the election campaign of future American president Donald Trump with an even larger amount.
Musk has been interfering in British politics for months. He has repeatedly attacked new Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He accused him, among other things, of setting up a ‘tyrannical police state’ in Britain after right-wing extremists were sentenced to prison for inciting hatred online. The British government therefore did not invite him to an investor summit.
