Blast effect in the “crime thriller” about the wanted puppy dealer! After the Austrian authorities released her at the end of November after less than 48 hours – as we reported – despite an arrest warrant, it became quiet around Brigitta M. But animal lovers can now breathe a sigh of relief, she may have fallen into the net of a Hungarian special unit.
It is a case that especially moved the “Krone” readers, because the photos and videos of the Hungarian farms of an Austrian dog breeder (breeding is no longer possible) are not easily forgotten. The cruelty and suffering that the animals had to endure there can hardly be put into words.
Hundreds of neglected dogs, half-dead puppies in filthy boxes and countless carcasses – that was the scene that police and animal rescue teams saw during the major raid on Mrs M.’s estate in Hungary in mid-November. “I have been active in animal protection for a long time, but I have never seen such conditions,” says animal corner boss Maggie Entenfellner of “Krone”, who was present during one of the operations, shocked.
Tactical escape to Graz
But Brigitta M. managed to escape to her home country Austria and thus avoided Hungarian justice for the time being. Because Austria only extradites its citizens to other countries in the rarest of cases.
Apparently the Styrian woman carried out the calculations without the persistence of the Hungarian police. They apparently took the suspicion of animal abuse and other serious crimes very seriously, conducted intensive investigations and even called in a special unit to investigate the case.
According to Hungarian media reports, Brigitta M. was arrested on December 12 while in the small Slovenian town of Ljutomer. It is unknown why she left Austria in the first place.
Access in Slovenia
According to information provided to “Krone”, she allegedly defended herself when approached. According to reports, two firearms were found on her, but police would not confirm this. The extradition to Hungary is still pending, but should take place soon.
