A terrible bloodshed shocks the US state of Utah: the bodies of five relatives were found with gunshot wounds in their home. A 17-year-old was the only one to survive the massacre.
The dead were a 42-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, an 11-year-old boy and girls aged nine and two, a West Valley City police spokeswoman said.
The police assume that it is a family tragedy, that the violence is over and “limited to this house,” says spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku. “We don’t believe there is a suspect at large,” she said.
Teen found with gunshot wound
Family members of the victims became concerned and entered the home through the garage on Tuesday morning to check if everything was okay. They found the family’s 17-year-old son alive, but injured from a gunshot wound. The teen was taken to hospital. “We do not know at this time if he is a suspect or a victim in this case,” Vainuku said.
The police now hope that the traces at the crime scene will provide information about what happened in the house. So far, the sole survivor has not provided any information about what happened. “I know he suffered a pretty serious injury,” the police spokesman said. “And I know he’s in a condition where we haven’t really been able to communicate with him.”
