Major alarm in Mostviertel (Lower Austria): A “serious incident” occurred near Hague in the early morning hours, the emergency services report. According to initial reports, a high-pressure gas pipeline burst.
As witnesses describe, at dawn a loud bang was suddenly heard. It is also said that smaller trees, branches and shrubs were thrown away by a pressure wave. The alarm was immediately activated and the fire brigades of Hague, Haindorf, Pinnersdorf and Amstetten responded immediately.
Houses evacuated
As determined on site, a high-pressure gas pipe had apparently burst for reasons that are still unclear. The gas supply was quickly stopped. Several houses in the immediate vicinity of the accident site were evacuated by the emergency services after the smell of gas was detected.
Look for cause
Representatives of the municipality of The Hague, police and rescue workers are on site to coordinate the further procedure. EVN experts have now also arrived and are carrying out further measurements and safety measures. The fire brigade protects the danger zone.
