A driver from Austria offered police officers 200 euros during a check in Upper Bavaria so that evidence of his traffic violations would be erased. The 40-year-old said he would put the money in the chair if the video recordings incriminating him were destroyed in return.
The man had therefore repeatedly failed to comply with the overtaking ban on Autobahn 92 in the vicinity of a construction site and was also driving way too fast. During the ensuing check, the police showed the man his violations on video, the Bavarian police said on Monday.
Fines, driving bans and declarations
“Of course the officials have not responded to the offer of money,” emphasizes a police spokesperson. In addition to a fine of 400 euros and a driving ban, the driver must also expect a display of attempted bribery.
