From the sailboat to the emergency room: As a neo-medical doctor, the Olympic champion of Carinthia, Lara Vadlau, experiences a lot of suffering and heartache every day, but also many priceless moments…
Lara Vadlau accomplished something historic in August. With her 470 sailing partner Lukas Mähr (Vlbg), the 30-year-old won the first gold medal for Carinthia at the Summer Olympics. Understandably, the hype around her skyrocketed after this mega success – especially as the Austrian “Team of the Year” and Carinthia’s “Sportswoman of the Year”. “The first months were stressful, in a positive way – with many appointments. “It’s cool that I get so much recognition and visibility,” says Vadlau, looking back on the year with satisfaction.
