A broken heater is especially annoying at Christmas. But if you look for professionals online, you should be suspicious. The professional has advice.
A flooded basement due to a defective pipe, an ice-cold heating system or a power failure throughout the house: scenarios that you do not need, especially during the holidays. “Unfortunately, this is exactly what can happen at Christmas: and if problems arise, it is often difficult to find an emergency service,” explains Johannes Weiß, director of the two guilds of plumbers and electricians of the Styrian Chamber of Commerce.
Don’t trust blindly, be suspicious
“Many people resort to internet research. It can quickly happen that they fall for fake plumbing sites,” says Weiß. Because: “Admittedly, these are extremely professionally structured at first glance.” Therefore, in such a stressful situation, it is important to keep your nerve and pay attention to a few points so that you do not fall for fraudsters.
“We have these types of fraud cases all the time. Customers trusted blindly. Then untrained employees come along to collect cash and sometimes cause even greater damage. Ultimately, customers are left with terrible bills,” says Weiß.
Caution is advised when luring people with dump wages from 38 euros. “That is absolutely no longer realistic in times like these,” the expert emphasizes. Distrust is also appropriate if telephone numbers cannot be clearly assigned or if the imprint on the website is missing.
“If the company is not listed on the WKO website Firmen AZ or is not registered, it is better to leave it alone,” Weiß advises. “We have also asked our registered installers to publish their on-call services on their homepage or in the media.”
