Grinch arrests suspected drug traffickers in Peru

Date:

In an unusual operation, Peruvian police arrested several suspected drug traffickers this weekend. The operation was carried out by special forces unit ‘Green Squadron’ and caused a stir – not least because of an officer dressed as the Grinch.

The police officer, disguised as the well-known Christmas character, had taken part in a Christmas campaign in the area before the raid.

This allowed the police presence to go unnoticed, making access easier. During the search, officers seized cocaine and precision instruments suspected of being used in the production and trafficking of drugs.

Peruvian authorities praised the creative camouflage as key to the operation’s success. The ‘Green Squadron’ is known for its unconventional tactics and regularly uses surprising strategies to dismantle criminal networks.
