With more than seventy people on board, the flight from Bucharest to Zurich had to make an emergency landing in Graz on Monday. A huge amount of smoke developed in the cabin. One crew member even had to be resuscitated after the plane was evacuated.
On Monday, the seriously injured steward was admitted to the LKH University Hospital in Graz. On Wednesday afternoon he continued to fight for his life: the man is intubated, on a ventilator and in intensive care. The family members are on site. A second cabin crew member is also hospitalized.
The reason for the accident remains unclear
A total of 17 people were injured as a result of the incident. The majority of the passengers were taken to Zurich on a special flight on December 24. The reason why smoke started appearing in the Airbus A220 is still being determined, Swiss said on Wednesday in response to a ‘Krone’ request.
