A Neunkirchen man almost got lost when he ignored an email invoice for dog food. After all, he doesn’t have a four-legged friend and hasn’t ordered anything. However, a little later a debt collection agency contacted him: he sought help from the Chamber of Labor. What you should definitely pay attention to here!
An invoice in your mailbox without having ordered anything? This is not an isolated case in Lower Austria, says Chamber of Labor Chairman Markus Wieser. “It certainly happens that consumers receive unjustified demands. If that is the case, our consumer advice will support you,” he emphasizes, describing a current case from Neunkirchen.
400 euros for dog food!?
There, a man ignored an invoice from a well-known online dog food trading platform – after all, the man from Neukirchen does not have a four-legged friend and had not ordered the pet food. A little later we had a rude awakening when a debt collection agency contacted us and demanded 400 euros!
Saves effort and costs
The man sought help from the AKNÖ. “We were able to intervene quickly and make it clear that the claim was unfounded. This saved those affected even more problems and costs,” says head of consumer protection Sandra Nowak.
