The year ends with a huge scare for a seven-year-old boy. He was in the car with his mother when, under the influence of alcohol, she lost control of the steering wheel near Maria Rain (Carinthia) and left the road.
It is the afternoon of December 31, around 3 p.m. A 35-year-old woman from the Klagenfurt-Land district drives her car on the L101 Göltschacher Straße, from Maria Rain towards Radsberg. Her seven-year-old son is in the backseat. But suddenly the unthinkable happens: for unknown reasons the car leaves the road. “Due to the unevenness in the meadow, he collided with two road marking posts and an electric fence before running away,” the police describe the situation.
At the same time, a 46-year-old driver, also from the Klagenfurt-Land district, was driving on the same road. He is just turning towards Oberguntschach when the woman’s car comes rushing out of the sky. He hits the rear of his vehicle with full force – luckily the man is unharmed.
Boy has guardian angel
The woman’s car hits the ground again and races across the uneven pasture. “Because of the bumps he took off again, the car rolled over several times and eventually came to a stop lying on the roof,” the police continued. A few minutes later, the rescuers arrive. The woman is freed from the wreckage, injured but conscious. After the first treatment, the paramedics take her to the Klagenfurt clinic. Her son, who miraculously remains unharmed, is also taken to hospital as a precaution.
The police are still conducting breath analyzes at the scene of the accident. While the 46-year-old’s test was negative, the 35-year-old’s test showed a positive value. Her driver’s license is immediately confiscated. Significant material damage is caused to both vehicles. The fire brigades Göltschach, Maria Rain, Ebenthal, Saberda and Viktring are deployed to secure the accident site and recover the wreckage.
