Latvian airline AirBaltic is canceling numerous flights from its summer schedule. The reason for this is delays in inspections and maintenance by engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney.
The Latvian airline will remove 19 routes from the program and reduce flight frequency on 21 other routes. BalticAir announced on Thursday that a total of 4,670 flights would be canceled.
Other airlines also have maintenance problems
In addition to AirBaltic, other airlines are also affected by the maintenance problems, including operators of Airbus aircraft with engines from Pratt & Whitney (a subsidiary of the American group RTX; take note), such as the Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air.
Last year, British Airways had to adjust its flight schedule due to delays in the delivery of engine parts from the manufacturer Rolls-Royce.
