Metre-high flames flared from a former inn in the municipality of Enns in Upper Austria on the night of Epiphany. Emergency services from eight fire departments also fought the fire with a turntable ladder; the cause is being investigated.
Around 3 a.m. on Epiphany, the sirens sounded in Enns. A fire had broken out in a former inn and was already flaring several meters high from the completely engulfed building when emergency services arrived.
Prevents the flames from spreading
About 120 firefighters immediately started extinguishing the fire from several sides, including by fighting the fire from above using a turntable ladder. The Florianis were on duty for several hours and were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.
Cause unknown
The former inn is said to have been vacant for a long time and no one was in the building at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is now the subject of a police investigation.
