After the tragic death of a pony in Lower Austria that was shot by a hunter on St. Stephen’s Day – and subsequently had to be euthanized – it is now clear: there will be no investigation into the sad case.
The incident took place in the town of Schwertfegen in Neulengbach in the St. Pölten district. The hunter shot – according to the hunting association using a night target aid – at the animal, which he thought was a wild boar.
The pony’s injuries were so severe that he ultimately had to be euthanized. As the St. Pölten public prosecutor announced on Tuesday, no investigation will be initiated. “No criminal offense has been committed,” said Leopold Bien, spokesman for the Public Prosecution Service.
