PSOE and United We Can are closed this Tuesday final agreement for the implementation of the asbestos compensation fundwhich, as initially planned, will depend on the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
Once the text has been approved in the Congress of Deputies, the agreement sets a maximum period of three months for the start-up of the fundaccording to United We Can.
In addition, an advisory supervisory body will be established, which will be linked to the National Institute for Social Security, in which victims and trade unions will be represented.
Another point in the agreement is that not only the workers will be the beneficiaries of the fund, but also the environmental and household victims.
The fund is guaranteed annually through the General State Budgets and is also financed by subrogations in lawsuits and sanctions. Likewise, “a very satisfactory procedure has been arranged for United We Can so that citizens can claim compensation.”
The final agreement comes after the principle of agreement that both sides reached at the end of May, and “thanks to the work of United We Can, the pressure of trade unions and associations, and the rest of the Basque parliamentary groups.”
